Participation at ESCMID Global 2026: Advances in Phage Therapy from Hannover

At this year's <escmid>ESCMID Global Congress</escmid> in Munich, one of the world's leading conferences on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology, <mhh>Hannover Medical School (MHH)</mhh> was represented by <ck>Prof. Dr. med. Christian Kühn</ck> and <er>Dr. Evgenii Rubalskii</er>. Their contribution focused on the clinical application of bacteriophages, an innovative approach to treating bacterial infections, particularly those caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens.

MHH is one of the few institutions in Germany with practical experience in phage therapy. Current clinical results as well as opportunities and challenges of this individualized treatment were presented, which is increasingly gaining importance as a complement to antibiotics, especially when standard therapies have been exhausted.

The presented work highlights the strength of translational research at MHH and the close interplay of basic research, clinical practice, and technology.

The participation in the congress underscores MHH's international visibility and provides important impulses for the further development of innovative therapies in Hannover.
